My son was a sweaty little boy, 2 or 3, when he would play with kids around the block. I would go get him and he was the only filthy one. His face would be smeared completely with dirt as he wiped the sweat from his face with dirty hands. Then, daughter sat near the foundation and dug a hole big enough to sit in up the her waist when she was three. Next daughter lay on the ground, observed bugs, and played with them. She even brought shoebox with dirt and bugs inside and put sticks, a lid of water, pebbles, and leaves...all under her bed. They loved dirt, and I let them play in it, dig holes in yard....gave them old pots, pans, spoons, bricks and boards. What to do in the summer? Go outside and play....in the dirt.

I got the hose before I was alowed inside. Which was part of the fun:) Mum always had a tarp in the back of the car aswell in case we got extra filthy, which we did. The seats were vinyl back in the day anyway so it wasn't such a big deal.

The most frugal fun i had was building my tree house. My Dad basically gave me a box of nails and some old pallets and said go nuts. How much would that of cost $1?

Even covered in dirt, he is adorable but I'm sure that you know this already!
My grandmother would pull me over to the spigot and scrub me before I could go in the tub! I was just that gross but it was fun!
