A winner, on my way out of town.

Melissa Allison was the one whom the random number generator loved best this week. She gets the $20 Amazon gift card. Everyone else gets to try again on Friday.

My first week here has been fun: Little sleep, but plenty of family, friends and food. The weekend was given to attending (and recovering from) a reunion of current and former women of the Anchorage Daily News in picturesque Hope, Alaska. This was a great group of kickass wimmen, and of course the food was major.

Oh, and yesterday my niece and her boys and I ran into a couple of bears while hiking.

More on that later, because I have to get out of town again: A couple of friends and I are going to Homer, Alaska, to wander around, look at beautiful scenery and have dinner with author Dana Stabenow (who as you may recall donated a copy of “Though Not Dead” to the recent anniversary giveaway). Life gets more interesting all the time.

I think the names of the places you are visiting are pretty neat….Names like Hope…Homer…would be interesting to know how these names were derived. As for “bumping” into a bear on a hike …WOW…I would have had a stroke! I’ve only seen beautiful pictures of Alaska …it must be remarkable in person….

  3. Love Homer! As a soap maker I admire this gal, love her philosophies.

She gets to live in the beautiful boonies and run a successful biz. So jealous! Have you ever used her stuff? I’ve read the Kate Shugak series by Dana Stabenow. Good stuff. Have fun.

Farmer’s Market opens this Saturday in Homer–complete with marimba music!

@Jenny: We have to go back to Anchorage on Thursday. :-( But we’ll drop by the bookstore before we go.

  6. I thought you were house sitting? Is the house lonely without you?

    Have a great time!

    • Donna Freedman

@Dr. Dean: The actual house-sitting won’t start until next month. Right now I’m just visiting.
Thanks for stopping by, and for leaving a comment.
