Swagbucks contest update: The stakes have risen.

Last week I offered up to eight prizes for readers who join Swagbucks using the widget on my site. That deal has now been sweetened thanks to a promotional code I received at a Swagbucks reception at BlogHer 2011.

This new deal means you’ll get 80 Swagbucks upon registration — but only if you join by Friday night. I’ve decided to throw in some additional prizes, too.

Register via the widget elsewhere on this page and use the registration code AUGUSTBONUS to get the extra SBs. (Normally you’d get only 30 upon signup.) Once you’ve joined, send your Swagbucks user name to me at SurvivingAndThriving (at) live (dot) com so that I can check it against my list of referrals.

This is important, because you can’t win if I don’t have your user name and an e-mail address with which to contact you. Several of you haven’t done that yet.

Speaking of prizes: I’ve decided to add at least three more Amazon gift cards to the mix. Currently I’ve got eight cards to be awarded among 30 referrals — actually just 27, since three of you haven’t identified yourselves. Pretty decent odds.

Want to know more about the program? See “Big news at Swagbucks” on my daughter’s website, I Pick Up Pennies. The article reveals the basics plus a rule change regarding the number of accounts permitted per household.

One thing I can tell you from personal experience: Amazon gift cards are just one of the many things you can earn/win on Swagbucks.

Once you’ve signed up, start searching. You’re eligible to win points for the first 20 searches of the day. I’ve won as many as five times in a day, and can’t remember when I haven’t hit at least once. (I noticed that some of you newcomers have already won.)

Try out the Trusted Surveys, too; look under “Earn” on the landing page when you sign on. (Some take as little as 10 minutes.) If you’re not a survey-taking kind of person, check out other ways to earn.

The deadline for this contest is 9 p.m. PDT on Sunday, Aug. 21.

Augh I signed up last night! Silly me. *facepalm* I already have 36 swagbucks though. Since last night!

@Melissa: I know, I know….That’s one reason I’m adding more prizes: To give folks who didn’t get the extra 50 Swagbucks a chance to get something out of this.
Thanks for signing up. Take some surveys! I’ve gotten as many as 100 SBs for doing so.

  2. I missed the bonus too but I’m having a great time with it. Searching has been the most successful for me. I keep getting dq’ed from surveys.

@MutantSuperModel: I get kicked out of a lot of surveys because of my age group (early 50s). But I do get selected often enough to make me want to keep trying. I check first thing in the morning and again during the day if I have time, as more opportunities do come in at different times.
      Good luck.

  4. I typed in the code AUGUSTBONUS and it doesn’t work.

@Joseph: I’ll e-mail you privately about this. Sorry about the snafu.

  5. I just signed up and it gave me the bonus. Thanks for the opportunity!

  6. Donna,
I tried the AUGUSTBONUS code and it said it is expired.

@Tina: As noted in the post, the code was good only through Friday night.

  7. @Donna: Thanks for reminding me to work on my reading comprehension skills. I joined Swagbucks and really could have used some in one of the surveys! I did get entered in two Swagstakes though.

swagbucks is so easy, I signed up using the widget on this page. I search everything through the swag site, even stuff that is on my favorites list. Additionally, I do the Daily Poll for a point. Also, as I like games now I earn swag bucks just goofing off and playing games. Too bad they don’t award you for watching tv shows.
