Beating the high cost of groceries.

Kelly Hancock, who blogs at Faithful Provisions, has a new book out — and a shopping bag to match. This week you have a chance to win both.

Saving Savvy: Smart and Easy Ways to Cut Your Spending in Half and Raise Your Standard of Living…and Giving” is a good primer on saving money at the supermarket and drugstore.

As her blog title suggests, Hancock writes from a Christian perspective: Bible verses and professions of faith are abundant. But so is good, practical advice that newbie deal-seekers should find quite useful.

Now: Picture a royal-blue ahopping bag that bears this image:

The bag plus the book is what you’ll get if the random number generator likes you best.

  1. I’d love to win this book. DH and I enjoy cooking, and somehow this has translated into an unusually high (in my opinion) grocery bill. There has to be ways to shop more wisely.

  2. Would love to win this as my reusable bags are getting a little “suspect” and I can always use a new point of view when it comes to keeping grocery costs down.

  3. This is my last year to get any child support from my ex-husband. I make $18000/yr and the cs is $4000/yr. I’m really going to need this book, as the bills don’t decrease when the kids begin college. Ugh…I’m trying to come up with some sort of savings and financial plan…

  4. I would love to win this book. I emerged from Albertson’s victorious this evening – $2.33 for a savings of $56.00.

If I win I will give the book to one of the newbies in our coupon club after she makes her first under $5.00 shopping trip for a week’s worth of groceries.

I would keep the bag for myself. My collection of coupons would look really good in there.

  5. I would love to win this book! I have 5 kids, ages 10 and under! I’ve been clipping coupons and pinching pennies, but it doesn’t seem like I’m doing it well enough 🙂 The tote bag is definitely a plus too!

  7. Food Costs seem to have skyrocketed in the last 3 years. I have less mouths to feed in my house but the grocery costs seem nearly double. I need a grocery budget intervention – Time to wake up and figure out how to grow my own coffee or something!!

  10. Sounds like a wonderful book! And who couldn’t use another bag to keep in the car – seems like I always forget to put them back, blaming my pregnancy brain.

  11. I’m an RSS subscriber. Well, I could certainly use some advice in this to help my grocery budget. Trying to keep it way down, but my last grocery visit was $50 and I sure didn’t have all that much on my LIST!
