Two books, two blog carnivals and (maybe) two awards.

Last week I promised to give away a copy of “Saving Savvy: Smart and Easy Ways to Cut Your Spending in Half and Raise Your Standard of Living…and Giving” along with a matching shopping bag. I’m also giving away a second copy of the book, sans bag.

I’d like to get some prizes, too. More on that in a minute.

The random number generator has spoken:

Melissa Allison won the book-and-bag combo and Darlene gets the book alone.

Stay tuned for this week’s giveaway, which is something I got at BlogHer 2011. That’s all I’m saying.

Voting continues for Plutus Awards

I was nominated in two categories for the Plutus Awards, which will be announced in October at the Financial Bloggers Conference. I’ll be there; in fact, I’m giving a presentation.

What I’d also like to do is pick up a couple of awards while I’m there. That’s where you come in.

If you think my work merits your votes, please cast ballots under “Best Blog Contributor or Freelance Writer” and “Best Written Blog” at  http://www.plutusawards.com/vote/.

Note: You don’t have to vote in every category if you don’t feel you know enough about them all. So don’t panic when the form says “page 1 of 15.”

The deadline is Sept. 21. Thanks for your support — which could potentially include tweeting, Facebooking or otherwise making this post visible to others.

Carnival knowledge

A piece I wrote last week, “The value of work,” was selected for the Best of Money Carnival at Mom’s Plans.

Another post, “Get rid of junk mail both physical and virtual,”is in the Carnival of Personal Finance at Canadian Dream: Free at 45.
