My friend Linda B.’s doctor has advised her to eat an ounce of dark chocolate daily. I wish I could get a prescription like that.
Whoever wins this week’s giveaway will be a healthier person because the prize is a trio of organic, fair-trade chocolate bars made right here in Seattle.
The goodies are from Theo Chocolate, a company hat received the “Fair for Life” label by “certifying our entire supply chain from the farmers through to Theo’s business practices and factory.”
The company sources locally whenever possible (obviously, the cocoa beans comes from somewhere else) and uses green energy sources and sustainable packaging and printing techniques.
Here’s what this week’s winner will receive:
- Ultimate Dark Chocolate (85% cacao)
- Mint Dark Chocolate (70% cacao)
- Spicy Chile Dark Chocolate (70% cacao)
Each bar weighs 3 ounces. And according to the label the contents are not only “rich in cocoa polyphenols” but also “suitable for vegans.” That means they’re super-healthy, right?
For your shot at the trio of Theo:
- Leave a comment below
- Subscribe via e-mail or RSS
- Sign up to follow Surviving and Thriving on Twitter or Facebook
If you do any (or all!) of these things, please leave separate, additional comments to get credit for each entry.
The deadline is 9 p.m. PST Tuesday, April 3. If I don’t hear back from the winner by Thursday morning, April 5, I’ll pull another name.

Thanks for the heads up about Theo’s. I enjoy & encourage supporting local! Looking forward to helping our local economies be more sustainable.
I love chocolate, but that pretty much only applies to *dark chocolate.* When I’m super duper stressed, I may eat something like M&Ms, but otherwise I’ve been known to turn down chocolate when offered if it isn’t dark chocolate. I really don’t like milk chocolate; it’s too sweet and watered down tasting for me.
I subscribe to an RSS feed and Facebook.
I also subscribe via Twitter. I think I’ve got you covered, Donna!
I live for chocolate!

I actually enjoy eating just one ounce of very good chocolate every day. Best if you’re not multitasking – just concentrate on the sensations of eating the chocolate, smelling the aroma, etc.
Ooooh – chocolate! Yes, yes and yes!

Theo is my favorite chocolate! It’s funny, because I just blogged about the misconception that vegan automatically denotes healthiness… chocolate on the other hand has been shown to be quite healthy!
Yum! Sounds like just what the doctor ordered.

I have become a real fan of your work, Donna ,and not just because I want to win the chocolate! I appreciate your argument that frugality and wise financial management are not ends in themselves, but ways to make sure that anyone can live the best life possible. I have always felt that way, so I have always lived a frugal life–for which I have taken a very great deal of ribbing from friends. What a relief to discover that others look at the world in the same way. Thanks.
I love dark chocolate.

Leave a comment… Sometimes I wonder what happens to all the comments that are, instead, kept. Considering what secrets are spilled in comments all over the Internet, one can only wonder what deep dark skeletons are hidden within tightly-kept comments.

You can never have enough chocolate… count me in!! 🙂
Eating a really nice bar of dark chocolate (or three) that I was fortunate enough to get for free? That would make for a great evening. Thanks for the opportunity!
Dark chocolate is good for you, I hear, but I really don’t think that
organic makes a huge difference, getting back to organic food, some
of it doesn’t make sense and is not sustainable, aka milk, and there is not enough supply to meet demand.
sounds so good-even this morning!
