Couponing for idiots.

I’m not calling you an idiot if you coupon. I do it myself. (I also remember the day when “coupon” was a noun, not a verb. Ditto “journal” and “parent.”)

What I’m doing is promoting this week’s giveaway, “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Couponing.”

Rachel Singer Gordon’s book offers the tried-and-true along with the high-tech (electronic, printables, et al.). She covers couponing for special diets, saving money while shopping online and sharing your bounty with others.

What I like most about her book is her emphasis on “realistic” couponing. Gordon doesn’t expect busy people to spend hours clipping and filing in order to save 50 cents.

If you do any (or all!) of these things, please leave separate, additional comments to get credit for each entry.

The deadline is 9 p.m. PDT Tuesday, June 5. If I don’t hear back from the winner by Wednesday evening, June 6, I’ll have the random number generator choose someone else.

  1. I’ve used coupons in the past but the few “extreme” shows I’ve caught a glimpse of seem to be exactly that….”extreme”.

    • Sure could use this book. I have been couponing sincing 1980, and still wonder if I am doing right-LOL! I am trying to eat healthier as both of us have health problems. It just isn’t easy trying to find coupons on non processed food.

  2. I love couponing, I know a lot of tricks to it, I don’t need to win the book though, I don’t want one more thing moving into the house for a while 😉

  3. I go back and forth with couponing. My mom was a wiz with them and now I wish I would’ve paid more attention. The book sounds good, especially in times like these where every little tip and trick to save is greatly appreciated.

  6. I subscribe via Facebook and email. I would love to win this book. I use coupons to save money and also help support extended family members down on their luck.

I would love to win the book to see if there are hints for timesaving.

I have been using coupons for 4 years and have the process honed down to where I don’t spend a lot of time clipping/sorting but I DO save a LOT of money.

  7. I have just signed up today for Safeway’s new coupon dealy where I can use my iPhone with Safeway’s app to see what coupons I might use and put them on my “card” so that when I check out I don’t need paper coupons. I am really happy with this and would love to learn more tricks for saving money!

  8. I use coupons occasionally, but find that they’re mostly for packaged food, high-calorie snacks, etc. They used to be better years ago when you could double them up to $1.00 off, and that was for one item. Now you have to buy two or three items and only get $.35 or $.50 off, and no doubling, at least in my area.
