Giveaway: Hand-made chocolates. (Now with more fish!)

slide5The giveaway schedule is all bollixed up lately, due to circumstances (mostly) beyond my control. Hope to get back on track soon.

Not this week, though. I’m choosing to put it up on a Monday and to draw on a Friday afternoon in honor of Valentine’s Day, in support of the local economy and with a tip of the hat to flavors of the Last Frontier.

Specifically: This batch of handmade sweets from Modern Dwellers Chocolate Lounge:

  • Would be a delightful treat for your loved one (or yourself!) on Feb. 14;
  • Are made by folks who live in Anchorage; and
  • Uses fish as an ingredient in two of the truffles.

Yes, fish. Get out of your comfort zone, already. Or offer the fishy ones to people you want to shock.

The five flavors in this batch are:

Romantic Rose: Bittersweet rose petal-infused ganache enrobed in dark chocolate and completed with a rose petal.

Dazed by Hazel: Rich milk chocolate and hazelnut ganache dipped in dark chocolate and hand-rolled in bittersweet chocolate and chunks of hazelnuts.

Indian Bop: Bittersweet East Indian curry ganache enrobed in dark chocolate, hand-rolled in dark chocolate and toasted coconut flakes.

Salmon Suprise: Bittersweet honey and black pepper ganache submerged in a dark chocolate shell, topped with Alaskan smoked salmon.

Anchovy Amour: Bittersweet blueberry puree ganache swimming in layers of hand-roled dark chocolate. Lustered with a salty, dainty anchovy.

Since these chocolates contain no preservatives, they are best enjoyed within 10 days of purchase. (Although I bet they’d be tasty on the 11th day and beyond, too.) That’s why timing is important: I will draw the winner on Friday afternoon, and I must hear back from that person by noon Saturday or I will draw another name. If the second-chance winner doesn’t contact me by 10 a.m. Sunday, I’ll pull another one.

The chocolates will be produced over the weekend and I will pick them up and mail them on Monday. That’s why I need the contact info promptly: To ensure that whoever wins gets the candies as fast as possible, and in time for Valentine’s Day.

To enter:

If you do any (or all!) of these things, please leave separate, additional comments to get credit for each entry.

The deadline to enter is 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time Friday, Feb. 8. If you enter, check the Surviving and Thriving Facebook page that evening or on Saturday morning. If the winner hasn’t responded, I’ll announce a second-chance name.

  2. YUM! I would love to try the fishy chocolates. Although Ro(e) has a compelling case, since she can use her name in fish puns. 🙂

I would love to try the fish candy – I imagine it has a subtle salty taste that I LOVE with chocolate.

    Pick Me! Pick Me!!
