Giveaway: The cold and flu package.

th-1If you’ve been in the cold/flu medicine aisle of the drugstore lately you were probably as shocked as I was by  the high cost of cold medications.

I hope none of you actually get sick this winter. But we’re indoors with a lot of other people and rhinoviruses spread faster than nasty rumors. So why not be prepared? And why not let me help?

These cold-and-flu packages are invariably popular, and probably not just because they save you money. I think a lot of people simply don’t want to keep cold medications on hand because, well, you don’t need them.

Until you do — at which point ayou might feel too miserable to make the trip to the pharmacy. And if you thought this stuff costs a lot at the pharmacy, wait until you price them at a convenience store.

This giveaway includes:

  • A bottle of Robitussin Cough + Chest Congestion DM (non-drowsy formula)
  • Advil film-coated tablets, for those aches and pains (20-count bottle)
  • Walgreens “Soothing Vapors” cough drops, Ice Blue variety (30-count bag)
  • Keeping It Real natural lip balm, vanilla flavor
  • Korean ginseng teabags (hot liquids are good for you) and a Norman Rockwell mug in which to brew them
  • A can of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup (also good for you)
  • A copy of “Next,” by Michael Crichton; one of the very few perks of being sick is that you have an excuse to take to your bed, so take a book in with you

Again, I sure hope you don’t need this stuff. But better safe than sniffly. However, plan not to get sick until the last week in October: I’m heading off to the Financial Blogger Conference very early on Tuesday and won’t be back until Oct. 23.

To enter:

If you do any (or all!) of these things, please leave separate, additional comments to get credit for each entry.

The deadline is 7 p.m. PDT Tuesday, Oct. 15. If I don’t hear back from the winners by 7 p.m. PDT Wednesday, Oct. 16,  I’ll pull another name.

Note: Due to the high cost of international shipping, a winner outside the United States will be given a choice of gift cards in lieu of the box and it will go up for grabs again.

  1. Count me in for this one as I get sick at least 3 times during the fall and winter months. I am going to college right now, so it seems like someone is always bringing some form of cold to school and they are eager to share it with anyone. My body seems to tell these cold ridden people-Ohh, you are giving something away, I will take it! (Sigh!) I recently have become a user of Zicam, so hopefully that will help a little to avoid some of the nasties, but inevitably, I will get sick. Take care Donna and enjoy your conference!

  2. Even though I won on the last round, it doesn’t hurt to try again. I ordered a book that I had been wanting to read with my Amazon gift card, thanks to YOU!!! If I win, I promise to share the cold/flu goodies with my son, who will be riding a bike to work here in cold New England all winter long!

  9. I am just getting over a month long cold and have exhausted all my cold supplies. This would be good for my next cold–I know this won’t be it for the winter, unfortunately.

  12. Sign me up for this giveaway! On a silly side note, Kleenex is running a website that will tell you if the flu is coming to your area. Just google my-achoo and kleenex. It will ask for your zip code and then show you the forecast for the flu hitting your area. I’d rather not have anyone in the family get sick at all, but I know they will, so it would be nice to have the medicine chest stocked!
    Stay healthy!
