Giveaway: The TSA-friendly travel kit.

thInterest in these things never wanes. I expect that’s because it’s just galling to pay more for a teeny-tiny toothpaste than you would for a 6-ouncer on sale with a coupon.

But if you’re planning a trip back to family of origin or to someplace warm and sunny and exotic for the holidays, you’ll need the items contained therein.

Among them:

Hair stuff: Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy volumizing shampoo and conditioner. The aroma in question is “orange ginger,” and it does smell lovely.

Mouth stuff: Crest Pro-Health shampoo and multi-protection rinse (once known as “mouthwash”). Also a wee little container of Glide floss — if you meet the guy/gal of your dreams on that Caribbean cruise, having spinach in your teeth won’t make a good first impression.

Skin stuff: Bath & Body Works lotion (also orange-ginger), Banana Boat sunscreen (SPF 30), Blistex Nurture & Nourish lip balm.

OTC stuff: Two Advil tablets, in case you stay too long at the fair and wake up feeling sub-par. Also three capsules of MegaRed krill oil, chock-full of antioxidants (also good for those who overdo the fun) and guaranteed to have “no fishy odor or aftertaste” (see “guy/gal of your dreams,” above).

A flashlight: Small and cute and equipped with a carabinier so you can clip it onto your belt, fanny pack or key ring. Perfect for negotiating your way through a crowded hostel room on your way to the john, or for scaring away the land crabs if you take a late-night walk on the beach in the Caribbean.

To enter:

If you do any (or all!) of these things, please leave separate, additional comments to get credit for each entry.

The deadline is 7 p.m. PST Wednesday, Dec. 4. If I don’t hear back from the winner by 7 p.m. PST Thursday, Dec. 5, I’ll pull another name. Last week I had to do that twice — if you enter the contest, check your e-mail on Thursday morning!

Note: Due to the high cost of international shipping, a winner who lives outside the United States will be given a choice of gift cards in lieu of the travel kit.

  4. Sounds like a useful collection of items to fly with. Still haven’t taken my little lotion and my lip care items out of their plastic bag in my purse from when I flew to Arizona a few weeks ago. At least I can find them pretty easily!

  5. Anything with Bath & Body Works products in it gets my attention! I always carry a tiny flashlight when we travel and it’s come in handy several times on late night trips to the bathroom 🙂

  7. have been a follower for several years but family needs have kept me from reading your posts for a couple of months. I’ve missed you!, and my ‘me-time’ of which you have been a part over the years. winning this stash would be a great way to celebrate my renewed commitment to the caretaker needing to take care of oneself in order to be able to take care of others.

thanks for all the good advise!

  10. Pick me! Pick me! I could use it in March to visit daughter & son-in-law while on their trip to Vermont, or to take a friend gr.kids from Baltimore to Tucson during the upcoming summer, or in November of 2014 on a trip to the UK.
