Get yourself a cold drink. I’m buying.

th-1Writing this from Austin, Texas, where I’m down for a spot of bidness. (Thanks, Savings.com, for inviting me to SaveUp2014 once more.) It’s pretty warm — not unbearable, just noticeably warmer than Anchorage. Then again, so are a lot of places.

(Quick aside: If you’re in the area, hope you’ll join me for brunch on Sunday, Aug. 3, at The Shady Grove.)

The heat helped me decide to put up another $10 Starbucks gift card for the weekly giveaway. Even if you don’t like coffee (I sure don’t), you can always find something interesting to drink there. You can also find air conditioning, which becomes increasingly important at this time of year.

Or you can save the scrip until the weather turns, then get one of those frou-frou coffee drinks or a fancy hot chocolate. Whatever works for you.

To enter:

If you do any (or all!) of these things, please leave separate, additional comments to get credit for each entry.

The deadline is 7 p.m. PDT Tuesday, Aug. 5. If I don’t hear back from the winner by 7 p.m. PDT Wednesday, Aug. 6, I’ll pull another name.

Until then, stay cool.

  1. – Will you join me in a cup of coffee?

    – Do you think there’ll be enough room for us both?

Thanks for the giveaway, Donna, and hope you’re having a grand time in Austin!

  2. I follow you on Facebook and always look forward to a great morning read. I have started my stocking stuffers for my kids- ages 15,24, and 27. Gift cards are awesome and they all three love Starbucks 🙂

  3. I love coffee! On occasion, I do venture to Starbucks. My drink of choice is the caramel macchiato which I have started drinking with skim milk to save calories without much difference in taste. Now my husband, I often think that he could almost single-handedly keep them in business. Thanks for the giveaway.

  4. As for heat, Arizona can’t be beat. I visited Castle Rock, AZ, one July, and it was 117 in the shade. Thank heaven for air conditioning and low humidity. I was amazed at my ability to endure 117 degrees Fahrenheit, but maybe because I was born in the deep South in July. If I win, I will treat a friend who likes Starbucks.

  5. I’m not a frou frou coffee drink person, but I do like a good cup of hot tea when the weather gets cold. Thanks for the giveaway!

  6. I swore I only liked strong black or with half and half coffee. And then I tried the blond coffee at Starbucks, with half and half and cinnamon.

  8. I enjoy your blog and have learned a lot. I do like chai tea and usually buy from a local store. However, Starbucks will do!

  9. If I won, I’d treat my husband and I to a Starbucks date. I’d get an iced coffee and treat my husband to his fave “pink drink” (lol): a nonfat, no whip raspberry mocha.

  10. Hi Donna, what a great treat to enter for a FREE starbucks giftcard! 🙂 The summers, anywhere in the world, are usually pretty warm! It has been a hot one though this year in S.C.! Today, on August 2nd, it is fairly cool and rainy- my sister and I actually turned off the A/C overnight.
    Can you believe it?! 🙂

  11. I enjoyed your thoughtful post the other day about the good/bad things that happen in our life.
My parents are from Bridgeton and Cedarville, and I’ve enjoyed learning about NJ as I work on Ancestry.com. (You had mentioned that you were from S. Jersey).

  13. I am so addicted to the Blackberry Mojito Tea Lemonade. It is a mix of so many unusual flavors. And since it is odd and I love it, it is sure not to return next year.

  14. Hot coffee in the morning, iced when it gets hot. Even though SB is a huge chain, the one in my neighborhood feels like a little local spot. It’s the “Cheers” of coffee shops.

  16. When Starbucks first came on the scene I made a (bad) habit of going often. I now save it for a special treat. So it would be a treat to win this gift card!
