Coffee and doughnuts in Tarpon Springs, anyone?

As we neared my dad’s place yesterday I noticed a Dunkin Donuts. It’s been ages since I had a sugar-raised sinker from DD, which operated in Anchorage when I arrived back in 1984 but has long since decamped.

Then Cheryl, a reader from Tarpon Springs, left a comment suggesting a meet-up at a local Wendy’s. She didn’t just pull that locale out of thin air; when I visit my daughter* in Phoenix I always have reader events at Wendy’s.

But…doughnuts. And it’s within walking distance of where I’m staying.

Anyone else interested in coffee and crullers? Cheryl and I will make room for you at the table.

The doughnuttery in question is at 40076 US Highway 19 North in Tarpon Springs. I plan to be there tomorrow (Sunday) starting at about 10:30 a.m. and will likely stay for at least an hour. If the conversation is particularly stimulating then who knows how long we’ll stick around?

(Hint: Probably until they kick us out.)

I’ll be wearing jeans and a black T-shirt with a pink “Money Nerds Unite!” logo. (It’s from the  2016 Financial Blogger Conference.) If you’re running a little late, you could always call the shop (727-934-0548) and ask if the woman with the MacBook is still there, talking with someone and/or eating more doughnuts than she should.

Those who show up more or less on time will probably have a chance to meet my dad, who has expressed an interest in driving me there, even though it really is fairly close. That’s either out of concern for my well-being or the fact that he, too, has been known to indulge in a doughnut now and then.

*Speaking of my daughter: Don’t forget to enter to win a Samsung VR headset over at her website. The Dollar Dig cash-back shopping site is sponsoring the giveaway to draw attention to Autism Awareness Month. The site is sponsoring a concurrent giveaway here at Surviving and Thriving, with the prize of an Amazon Echo Dot. You have until April 18 in both places. Good luck!

    • You’re on! I’ll get there the day before the conference begins and would love to hang out with you (and your husband?) either that evening or the next morning, since the doings don’t start doing until late afternoon. More when I know it.

      • I just looked up the dates and it is 10/25-10/28. That’s perfect! My b-day is 10/23 and seeing you again would be quite a gift. ? If you arrive 10/24, you’re more than welcome to spend the night at our home and enjoy the lake view. If K2 is home, the can smoke some ribs….Mmmmm!

If you don’t have a rental car, we’re more than happy to pick you up at the airport and then drop you off at your hotel the next day. No pressure, of course, just want to make the offer. I still haven’t decided if I’m going to attend yet.

      • Oh, and side note. I’m heading on a girl’s weekend to Phoenix at the end of this month and am going to reach out to Abby to see if it’d be possible to meet up.
