Giveaway: The Financial Blogger Conference package.

I’m not talking a “Greetings from Schaumburg!” ashtray, either.

Recently I attended the first-ever Financial Blogger Conference, along with 250+ others and at least one Klingon. The conference was great, and the goodie bags were pretty good. Although the winner won’t be getting everything in the bag, he or she will get a fun mix of items — and the bag itself, too.

Here’s what’s up for grabs:

Personal Financial Calculator for Dummies. Want to plan for college (or retirement), estimate mortgage or car-loan payments, help someone understand what credit-card interest charges are doing to the bottom line? This could help.

USB flash drive. Thanks to Adaptu for providing this, and for packaging it in a bag that is not only sealed for security but biodegradable as well.

A funny book. “The CreditCard.com Book of Cartoons” is a collection of humorous drawings from The New Yorker, so you know they’re good.

Candy! Australian blogger Kylie Ofiu contributed cute li’l Cadbury sweets that you won’t see on this continent. Dear winner, please write and tell me what a “Cherry Ripe” bar tastes like.

Two reusable shopping bags. They’re neatly folded into a zippered pouch containing the INGDirect logo. Guess what color they are?

The conference bag. It’s a messenger-style bag with pockets on either end suitable for water bottles. Or for a Plutus Award, which is how I toted mine around.

Four things for your desk. A mouse pad from Kapitall (“If you can drag and you can drop, you can trade”). A stress ball from Prosper.com. A scratch pad from Izea (“Today’s awesome thought,” plus check-boxes for “left-brained,” “right-brained” and “I have amazed myself again”). A pen from the National Endowment for Financial Education, so you can write down those awesome thoughts before they slip your mind.

One thing for your bathtub. BillFloat.com handed out little rubber duckies. I’m picturing the winner sitting in the bathtub, worrying about how to make that month’s electric bill after a series of short-term financial problems. Like Archimedes, he or she may see the BillFloat logo and yell, “Eureka!” Just don’t run down the street nekkid to tell everyone.

  1. Oh, I can’t decide what I want more, the calculator or the rubber duckie. I won’t send you a picture of me in the tub with it (the duck, not the calculator) but I will share the vaguely obscene-sounding Cherry Ripe bar with you!

    Truly, a little bribe never hurts . . . . .

  3. Sounds like you had a great time at The Financial Blogger Conference! First, thanks for losing the ashtray as retro-trendy as they may be. Calculator and flash drive look particularly helpful (wondering what size the flash drive is?). The Oz candy sounds intriguing. And last, the reusable shopping bags must surely be ING orange and blue! OH, and I subscribe via email. Thanks!
