Giveaway: Two $10 Starbucks cards.

th-1Seems that we finished our vacation just in time, escaping the Lower 48 barely ahead of a serious heat wave. (And I thought it was hot while we were there…!) Sorry for all of you whose feet are sticking to the softened asphalt.

This week’s giveaway won’t make the hot weather go away, but it’ll help you cope: I’m selecting two winners to receive $10 Starbucks gift cards. I’m not a coffee fan myself, but I understand the iced variety is quite cooling.

Coffee isn’t the only option, of course.

The Starbucks drinks menu includes flavors like Green Tea Peach Lemonade, Valencia Orange Refresher (which is also flavored with cardamom, jasmine and apricot), Strawberry Smoothie, Iced Chai Tea Latte, Shaken Iced Passion Tea and Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino.

Just getting out of the sun for a little while and sipping an icy beverage can give you the boost you need to keep going. Last week we were wilting in the Manhattan heat and humidity while waiting for the Megabus back to Philly. A round of mango-pineapple smoothies changed all our attitudes.

Those drinks were, in fact, from a nearby McDonald’s. But the theory is the same: the shock of the cold is a delightful antidote to a sticky day.

Two of you will get a $10 head start on that relief. Here’s how to enter the giveaway:

If you do any (or all!) of these things, please leave separate, additional comments to get credit for each entry.

The deadline is 7 p.m. PDT Tuesday, July 23. If I don’t hear back from the winners by 7 p.m. PDT Wednesday, July 24, I’ll pull another name.

  1. I tried the Valencia refresher and it was like eating a spoonful of Tang. My friends like it but I find it difficult to like.

  2. Get emails and facebook posts. I’d like a card. Would give it to my autistic nephew who loves it when his caregiver takes him to Starbucks. (I also get him tokens for beer at the local watering hole) He understands these gifts better than money. They actually have anticipation value for the big guy!

  3. I almost never splurge on Starbucks, so winning would give me a chance to treat myself. Thanks for the opportunity; it’s sweltering here in DC.

  5. I’m not a fan of their coffee but their cold concoctions are great and would really hit the spot here in almost 100 degree central NJ.

  6. I do not drink coffee but love the Green Tea Cappicino. Due to cost and calories I only treat myself once in a while.

You are lucky you headed home as the weather in and around Philly has been horrible.

  8. I pass by a Starbucks twice a day…on foot…on hot pavement. An iced beverage would be good in this hot Texas summer.

  12. I do like Starbucks, even though I haven’t been in awhile, because of calories and money, in whichever order you prefer. This would be a nice treat.

  13. Woohoo, love Starbucks. But I’m on a diet, I wonder if they have any low-calorie? I would typically enjoy the frappucino which I know ain’t diet friendly!

  14. Starbucks rocks! Try coffee. It will take over your life; like a newborn child. You will not know you are hooked until it is too late. 🙂

  16. Our feet are not sticking to the asphalt in Seattle. You know how it can be, high 70s and beautiful sunshine. Would still love a cold drink from Starbucks.
