Giveaway: Two $25 gift cards, via Swagbucks.

card225Any time I give away a gift card the response is tremendous. And why not? Although some people think that GCs make awful presents, the chance to get a head start on a want or a need is fine by me. (And, apparently, by you.)

This week’s giveaway, sponsored by the Swagbucks rewards program, gives two lucky readers $25 in scrip – or, maybe in cash.

That’s because the winners get to choose any $25 e-gift card that Swagbucks offers, and among those offers is a $25 PayPal card. Thus you could choose to cash in for greenbacks or stick with shopping, at sites like Amazon, Target, Starbucks, Lowe’s, Home Depot, CVS, iTunes, GameStop and many others.

(It’s easy to set up a PayPal account and link it to your bank. Don’t have a bank but still need cash? Choose an e-gift card that’s much prized on those gift card reseller sites. You’ll get up to 90 percent of the $25 sent to you, and quickly — cards for merchants like Target and CVS sell fast. You could also ask a friend if s/he would buy the card from you at face value.)

To make things even more interesting, you have the rest of the day today (Aug. 15) to win a prize of 500 Swagbucks. It’s simple to do: Just use the site’s new search engine.  Powered by Yahoo!, it modernizes search results with reviews, images, maps (including local ones), videos, buying opps and more.

As part of the hoopla surrounding the launch of the new search process, Swagbucks is giving away 50 of those 500-SB prizes. You can enter up to three times today. Here’s how:

  • Go to the Swagbucks.com homepage and click on the large image at the top, the one that’s displayed with a question. (First entry.)
  • A sliding notification will appear at the bottom of the results page; click on it. (That’s entry number two.)
  • Close that notification when you see the search results, and a third notification will appear. (Click on it for your final entry.)

(Just FYI: I’ve actually won SBs twice this week during the entry process, just by clicking on the large image.)

The 50 winners will be announced on the Swagbucks blog on Monday. Good luck!

How to win those gift cards

But back to business. You must be a Swagbucks program member in order to qualify to win this week’s Surviving and Thriving giveaway.  That’s because the prizes will be electronically credited to the two winners’ accounts.

If you’ve already joined up, you’re set. Not yet a member? You can join using my referral link or just go to Swagbucks.com and join that way. (No doubt you can guess which way I’d prefer.)

No matter which route you take, the bonus code NEWSEARCH70 will get you 70 points right away. Note: When you sign up, you must click “I have a signup code” — the text is small, but it’s there! — and enter the code there. Make sure to capitalize all the letters, as the code is case-sensitive. It expires on Aug. 31 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.

Once you’re a Swagbucks member,  you can enter this giveaway up to five times:

If you do any (or all!) of these things, please leave separate, additional comments to get credit for each entry.

The deadline is 7 p.m. PDT Tuesday, Aug. 19. If I don’t hear back from the winners by 7 p.m. PDT Wednesday, Aug. 20, I’ll pull two more names.

Note to readers outside the United States: The gift cards displayed at the link above may differ from the selection available to winners in Australia, Canada or the United Kingdom.

  1. I hope I win. I’ve been using Swagbucks for a few years now. I try to get Amazon giftcards to save on my subscribe and save items. Between the Swagbucks giftcards and Amazon discounts, I can often get things I need like toilet paper or cat food for free or almost free.

  3. I joined swagbucks (through your link!) a couple of years ago. Since then I’ve earned hundreds of dollars worth of Amazon GCs. It’s such a great program.

  4. I’ve been a swagbucks member for a long time – but I got out of the habit of visiting the site, and only recently started using it again!

  5. I love Swagbucks! I don’t get to browse the internet as much as I used to, but I’m happy when a few times week I win something, and I always use them to shop at Target.com and get my extra points!

  6. Lastly, I subscribe via email.

I’m planning on redeeming my next few Swagbucks prizes for Amazon gift card for a friend. Spent the weekend with her and her family. She’s got two boys – one’s mildly Austic and the other is 2 😉 She really has her hands full. I love her with all my heart, and I really want to treat her to something. I’m glad to have something like Swagbucks to help me do something nice for her!

  8. I used to use Swagbucks a lot, but they’re not very accessible for visually impaired users. Still, I do swing by there occasionally, and I’d love a chance to win a gift card. Thanks, Donna!
