Meet your favorite PF bloggers at FinCon16 event.

th-1Hey, San Diego-area readers: You’re invited to the Money Meetup on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The free FinCon16 event is sponsored by USAA and organized by Jason Vitug, founder of the Phroogal blog and author of “You Only Live Once: The Roadmap To Financial Wellness And A Purposeful Life.”

Here’s the beauty part: You don’t have to attend the Financial Blogger Conference to enjoy the meetup. It’s open to the public.

The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. as a meet ’n’ greet (with free drinks and snacks) in the Grande Ballroom of the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina. Short inspirational talks will be delivered from 7 to 8 p.m. by Vitug, Joseph Montanaro (a financial planner with USAA), Talaat and Tai McNeely (His and Her Money Podcast), Joe Saul-Sehy (Stacking Benjamins), Dorethia Kelly (The Money Chat) and Robert Farrington (The College Investor).

(You know they’re short talks because only one hour has been allotted for all seven speakers. No run-ons allowed!)

For half an hour after that, audience members can ask questions. Finally, from 8:30 to 9 p.m. you can mingle and chat – and if you’ve got a copy of Vitug’s book, you can get it signed.

Getting your ticket

Again, this is all free. Advance registration is required – and the sooner the better, since at some point the fire marshal won’t let anyone else in.

Use the above link to RSVP; click on the little green “Register” box in the top right corner, then complete the form that appears. Your ticket will be sent to the e-mail address you used to register.

Although I can’t promise your favorite PF blogger will be in attendance, you’re sure to see a ton of writers at the meetup and in the hotel lobby, hallways, coffee shop and lounge. People like Clark Howard, Liz Weston, Jean Chatzky, Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche and J.D. Roth. (The full list of speakers is here.)

And, of course, Donna Freedman. Hope to see you there.

If you plan to attend, e-mail me at SurvivingAndThriving@live.com and perhaps we can arrange a pre-event meetup of our own. Anyone know of an affordable restaurant in that area? (Hint: Sandwich shops and diners are A-OK.)

  2. There is nothing inexpensive close to that hotel. It’s sort of an island unto itself. I’ll investigate and get back to you.
