She’s ready to fly the friendly skies.

Or, rather, she’s ready to put her husband on a plane. Cindi, the winner of the TSA toiletries bag, notes that her significant other travels a lot for business.

Stay tuned for Friday’s giveaway, which will be either a PF book or a gift card (but not an Amazon one).

Travel-wise, I’m having a pretty good time myself. Thus far I’ve made side trips to Hope and Homer, encountered bears and seen about 10 moose.

The most fruitful trip thus far, though, was the one I made to the Memorial Day sale at the Value Village thrift shop. I bought a nice (and new-looking) cotton shirt and a pair of jeans for $3.50 each. The jeans were a necessity since the ones I’ve been wearing for ages are fraying along the left thigh. Let’s just say that I could feel the breeze when I walk.

The big score, though, was a pair of flannel-lined jeans from Eddie Bauer: seemingly unworn and very cozy, for $15. They’ll be just the thing to wear at the Talkeetna Bachelors Auction and Wilderness Woman Competition. Anyone who wants to come along should contact me via e-mail. At least one reader swears she’s attending, and we’ve got room for other wild wimmen.

For background and an eyewitness report, check out “Ladies: Wanna feel hot? Join us where it’s cold” and “Live from Alaska: Frozen pipes, bachelors on credit and suggestive pizza.” And start saving up now, both for the plane ticket and the bail bondsman.

Ooooo, love Value Village! And you really did hit the jackpot with the lined jeans, lucky you!

  2. I remember in one of your MSN videos you mentioned Value Village, so I went on the hunt a while back for a location in my area (has a different name) . I didn’t need anything at the time, but it was fun to browse 🙂

@Adoseoftlc: Was it Savers? They’re sister stores, or the same store under different names, or something.
It’s a treasure hunt. Sometimes you come up empty and sometimes you score big-time.
Thanks for reading, and for leaving a comment.

Here in metro Chicago Salvation Army ran a 50% off all clothing sale on Memorial Day. I got:

    2 summer weight tops
    2 summer weight pants
    a summer weight pant suit
    pair of washable LEATHER pants

Total out of pocket including my nearly 10% sales tax was $9.50.

  4. Hi Donna! I am having trouble sending out any emails;
whether new or placing a replay…
I am not sure how to get my address to you!
    Many thanks, Cindi
