I believe in responsible use of credit. Like it or not, the credit scoring system is a fact of life in the United States. Unless you want to pay higher interest rates throughout your life — or risk being unable to get a mortgage or auto loan — then you should establish and maintain a respectable credit score.
Opting out of it because you think the system is unfair is like acting as your own lawyer because you think attorneys charge too much. The cost of making that stand is far too high. A savvy consumer will learn to work within the system.
