Free men’s health screenings at Sam’s Club.

th-1Does a man in your life drag his heels when it comes to seeing a doctor? This Saturday, June 13, he can at least get some lab work done for free.

The “His Health” screenings are being offered to members and non-members alike at all Sam’s Club locations that have pharmacies.

If you live near one that does, your husband/boyfriend/male relative can get up to eight different things checked without paying a dime.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. men can choose from among the following:

  • PSA (prostate-specific antigen), recommended for men ages 40 and over
  • Blood pressure
  • Total cholesterol
  • HDL (good cholesterol)
  • Risk ratio
  • Glucose
  • Body mass index (BMI)
  • Vision (this one’s not available at every location)

Maybe he’s put off having himself looked at because your insurance has a really high deductible. (Mine sure does.) Or maybe he’s just using that as a Dude Excuse to avoid having blood drawn.

His protestations about how your budget can’t handle the cost of a doctor’s visit right now won’t work on Saturday. It’s not a full physical, but it’s a start — and the price is certainly right.

Make it a frugal lunch date: first a bite to eat at the Sam’s Club hot dog stand and then the free screenings. Again: You don’t have to be a member, and one or more of those tests might ultimately save his life.
