Friday giveaway: Necks and the city.

“Sex and the City 2” opens May 27, and I’m happy to be hosting the Blog & Save giveaway of the script necklace — aka the  “Carrie necklace” — made famous in the TV series.

You don’t have to be named Carrie to win it, though. The necklace, from Limoges Jewelry, will spell out your name as long as it has fewer than 12 letters.

Normally this necklace it would cost $69.99 – but if you win, it won’t cost you a dime.

(And if you don’t win? Blog & Save has a page of Limoges Jewelry coupons so you can find yourself a discount.)

Since chocolate continues to make readers drool like Pavlov’s pups, I am also giving a confectionery consolation prize: A bag of Godiva milk chocolate strawberries and two Godiva bars (milk chocolate with almond, dark chocolate with extra-dark ganache filling). Given that “Sex and the City 2” fans tend to be women, and that women tend to be associated with chocolate…well, let’s just keep that stereotype rolling, shall we?

To enter, leave a comment below before 9 p.m. PDT Monday, May 24. The winners will be chosen using a random number generator.

Blog & Save is the personal finance blog at Savings.com. I had a guest post there recently, “Forget ‘paper or plastic’ — the answer is reusable shopping bags.” So did my daughter, Abigail Perry: “Deal or no deal? Do sales really save money?” (Yep, I’m a stage mom. But she’s a darned good writer. You already know that if you’ve checked out her site, I Pick Up Pennies.)

Note to male readers: Enter this contest! If you surprise your sweetheart with the gift you may earn Good Partner Points, which can later be traded for valuable prizes.

  5. So how many GPPs (Good Partner Points) does it take to remove one IPP (Insensitive Partner Points) or even a DIP (Dumb Insensitive Partner) mark?

Are these like drivers license points where I can drive safely for five years and then let me inner Thelma & Louise out with a 95 mph run down I-95?

    • Re Good Partner Points: Well, most guys prefer to trade them for valuable prizes. You know the prizes I mean. But I suppose if you’ve banked some good partner points, you can draw upon them whenever you pull a particularly boneheaded move. “Yes, dear, I let the kids eat Skittles for breakfast. But remember that time I rubbed your feet?”
Incidentally, ladies, that road runs both ways. If your partner thinks you’re being particularly needy, or whiny, or whatever your personal tic happens to be, then you can remind Mr. Wonderful that you put up with his “Star Wars” memorabilia or his fantasy sports league, or that you have not taken a claw hammer to his lighted beer sign.
Live and let live, is all I’m saying. But it doesn’t hurt to stockpile those GPPs, just in case.
