Giveaway: A big box of FinCon15.

th-2Conferences are always good for odd bits of swag: mouse pads, Post-It notes, bathtub toys.

I was a little more selective at this year’s Financial Blogger Conference, because my suitcase wasn’t very big.

Too, I kept a couple of items for myself:

RepayDebt.org’s “Slash Debt” T-shirt, which bore a piggy-bank head with long black curls and a top hat. (Get it? I didn’t, either, until my daughter reminded me of the existence of the Guns ’n’ Roses musician Slash.)

A squeezable foam “stress bull” – not because I’m stressed, but because I thought it might amuse DF’s granddaughter. He looks a bit incongruous in the cloth Noah’s Ark, since he’s twice as big as the other critters, but I’m sure they’ll work something out.

Purple socks printed with stylized pennies, from Pennyhoarder.com. They’re reversible to plain purple if you care what people think about your accessories. (Hint: I think they’re cool.)

But I still came away with a few things someone will want.

The winner will receive:

The Art Of Work: A Proven Path To Discovering What You Were Meant To Do.” In his latest book, best-selling author and blogger Jeff Goins (GoinsWriter.com) shows readers how to step out of the lockstep of societal/familial expectations and create the lives they want to live.

Selfie stick. I kid you not. This was from PenFed Credit Union. Since I don’t have a smartphone, I’m sharing this with one of you.

Lunch bags. Two of them, also from PenFed Credit Union. They’re insulated, they zip closed, and they have little mesh pockets to hold water bottles or juice boxes. Give one to your kid, your spouse, your partner or someone at work who’s always complaining about how expensive it is to buy lunch. (Then make one, you knucklehead!)

Sunglasses. Green ones, from GO Banking Rates. (The color of money – get it?)

T-shirt. Navy blue, with the logo “Captivate, by Smart Asset.” Free T-shirts are the universe’s way of saying, “You don’t have to do laundry for at least one more day.”

Reusable shopping bags. A pair of these, from EverBank. Always useful.

Golf balls. Vanguard contributed half a dozen of the things. No, I don’t know why, either.

Giant canvas bag. Another Vanguard item, it’s very large and sturdy (feels like sailcloth) and it zips closed. This would be good as a beach bag, or you could fill it with all the things you should keep in the car and then toss it in the trunk.

Travel mug. Stainless steel, with one of those slidy lids and a CentSai logo.

Pens! Three of them are regular (but very nice) writing implements from Clearpoint Credit Counseling Service, Captivate and my favorite rewards program, Swagbucks. The fourth, from Ally Bank, has a flash drive concealed inside. It made me feel like a nerdy James Bond.

Want these oddments? You can enter up to six ways:

If you do any (or all!) of these things, please leave separate, additional comments to get credit for each entry.

The deadline to enter is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21. If I don’t hear back from the winner by 7 p.m. PDT Thursday, Oct. 22, I’ll pull another name.

Note: Due to the high cost of international shipping, a winner from outside the United States will receive an e-gift card in lieu of the DVD.

  1. I’m surprised you didn’t keep the flash drive pen for self! BTW, the note at the end of the piece mentions a DVD. Was this a remnant from a previous giveaway? This is a great haul. Thanks.

  2. I’d enjoy this treasure trove of cool stuff! As they say, “one person’s trash is another’s treasure.” Truth be told, I’d actually pay money (not much, mind you) for the zippered canvas tote.

  3. I’m in it for the reusable bags. I had two self-destruct on me today. (They’re all I use. I keep a half dozen or so in the car for all my shopping trips.)

  4. I follow your blog & I am beyond THRILLED to learn that I am NOT the only one left on the planet who does not have (or want/need)a smartphone. Would love to get the goodies to give away in my 3rd world travels.

  5. I don’t think you’re offering to break up the package but I’ll admit to craving the zippable tote bag and the lunch bags because I’m going to need to send LB with a lunch bag sooner than I’m ready for! 🙂

  6. Donna, always enjoy your posts. I’m glad you explained about the t-shirt. I guess I’m showing my age but I wouldn’t have gotten it either. I’ve heard of Slash and Guns-N-Roses but didn’t know what he looks like. Credit Unions at FinCon? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised but I am.
