Giveaway: More stocking stuffers.

I’m really enjoying these giveaways. That’s because I love giving things away almost as much as I love winning things myself.

Okay, not 100 percent accurate right now: I’m hoping against hope to win a PlayStation 5 in time for Christmas. My great-nephew, like many other gamers, is obsessed over this new system. Some people were so obsessed they camped out for a day and a half for a chance to get one.

A new batch went up for grabs recently. At the given day and hour nephew, his mom and I were all poised to try and get one. Nope. They sold out instantly.

So I, like probably millions of others who entered that contest, am hoping for a Christmas miracle. Hey, I have the same chance that everyone else has. All those millions of everyones.

(If you enter using that referral link above, I’ll get additional entries.)

Your chances of winning this week’s giveaway – another small flat-rate box of stocking stuffers – are much better.

Some of these are Alaskan in nature, but most of them are small gifts donated by a few people. Oh, and two small gift cards.

Interested? Here’s what’s up for grabs:

Earrings. Lots of ’em. Six or seven pairs, I think. Here’s one:

Here’s another:

A handful of bookmarks – some fabric, some metal and one eye-bending 3D one that shows a bunch of tropical fish. Gaze at it too long and you’ll get a headache, but maybe you have a fish-fan friend (or a 4-year-old) on your gift list. Oh, and there’s a creepy one made of brown suede with a bead that looks like an eyeball, and it’s truly unnerving. Bet you know someone who would love it, or would love to hate it.

A floaty chiffon scarf measuring 39 inches square, with red as the dominant color and some paisely squiggles. It could also be a shawl for a smaller person, or a tablecloth:

Vintage European lace. One is a hanky that says “Souvenire de Bruxelles.” There’s a pale brown doily and two more lacy hankies that are all, I believe, from Ireland. These were donated by the fabulous Linda B., who has had them since visiting Europe with her folks more than 60 years ago.

An Alaska Tastee-Freez mask, for those trips when a plain white paper model just won’t do. It’s modeled here by my young great-niece:

Yep, that’s the Tastee-Freez mascot (he of the hot-fudge-sundae-swirl hairdo) standing outside an igloo. And speaking of hairdos: Niece now has deep magenta locks, and she recently used up the last of the blue-green on her mom’s hair. In a lockdown, you have to make your own fun.

Small bag of enamel pins. Many  are Alaska-themed, including but not limited to puffins, a silhouette of the state of Alaska superimposed on the Lower 48, a teeny-tiny walrus stickpin and a gold polar bear.

Coin purse. It’s made of fabric with a Velcro closure and slots for credit cards, and it won’t take up too much room in bag or pocket:

Scrunchie! The ’80s are back and they’ve brought their accessories along for the ride. This one was stitched up the same great-niece pictured above.

Bangle. No charms on it – just a slender bracelet made of twisted brass and copper strands. I guess you could add charms if you like, but it’s pretty all by itself.

Fancy chocolate. This is a dark chocolate bar with espresso beans, made by a local confectioner called Chugach Chocolates. lThe previous giveaway of these bars was so popular that I’ll probably do another one in the new year. (Note: If you still have holiday shopping to do, Chugach offers free U.S. shipping on orders of $26 or more – and the six-bar assortment is $26.95, so there you go! Obviously, flavors like Alaska kelp and cayenne or Prince William Sound Sea Salt are the answer to “What to get for the person who has everything?”)

$10 Starbucks gift card. Even those of us who don’t drink coffee can usually find something to sip at this coffee shop.

$5 Amazon card. Not to keep bringing up my great-niece, but…B earned this card by using a smartphone app called Shopkick, and I gave her five bucks for it. She and I (and her mom) enjoy the app because it’s so simple to use: Snap pictures of specific items on store shelves and/or buy them, and you get points that can be traded for gift cards. If you’d like to give it a try, hope you’ll use my referral links: Download at https://getsk.co/win358965 or visit Shopkick.com and use the code WIN358965 when asked if anyone referred you. I’ll get a bonus, and you know what I always say: A solvent blogger is a happy blogger.

For your chance(s) to win, do one or more of the following:

Be sure to leave a separate comment for each entry (e.g., “Subscribed via e-mail” or “Follow you on Twitter”).

The deadline to enter is 7 p.m. PST Wednesday, Dec. 16. If I don’t hear back from the winner by 7 p.m. PST Thursday, Dec. 17, I’ll have the random number generator draw a new name. This is a shorter-than-usual window but I need to get this stuff in the mail if it’s to be gifted.

Note: Due to the high cost of international shipping, this giveaway is limited to U.S. residents.

    • Aw, thanks! It would be a truly Christmas miracle if I were chosen from among millions of hopefuls, but boy, would I love surprising my nephew with a card that said, “Soon to be delivered…” (The drawing isn’t until Dec. 20 and I doubt they could get it to me on time if I were to win.)

And hey: If you win, we’ll buy it off you!

  2. Subscribed by email. I have everything that I want and need, but it sure would be fun for me to share the give away items with the impoverished kids that I support in the Dominican Republic.
