Go win these contests.

I enter contests all the time, in real life and on the Internet. Sometimes I even win them.

Most recently it was for a prize I didn’t really need, but figured I could sell. The guy running the contest offered me the $250 cash equivalency. Right before the holidays, too. #christmasmiracle

Once you enter, you’re on their mailing lists for future contests. Lately I’ve been seeing a steady stream of gift cards for Amazon, Target, Walmart and other retailers.

A couple have been for computer and gaming items, from monitors to chairs. Again: Don’t need, but could gift (one of my nephews is a major gamer) or sell for a little extra cash.

Lately a lot of people could use a little extra cash. Thus I’ve decided to group together the contests I currently know about so that you can enter them, too. Even if you don’t shop at those retailers, you could sell the cards on the secondary market.

Here’s what I’ve currently got:

$200 Amazon gift card (How to FIRE)

In case you’re unfamiliar with the acronym, FIRE stands for “financial independence, retire early.”

$500 Walmart gift card (Your Money Geek)

Some people don’t like to shop at Walmart. If that’s you, you could always sell the card.

$100 Walmart card (Arrest Your Debt)

See above.

$100 Lowe’s gift card (Wealthy Nickel)

Time to work on your yard, or buy some paint and refresh your interior?

Furbo Dog Camera (Petsmont)

I’d never heard of this thing, either. It’s an interactive dog camera that lets you check in on your pooch remotely – and also toss the pup a treat. What’ll they think of next?

Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor (Sweeps)

Again, gaming stuff isn’t my brand but I bet my nephew would love to get it for his birthday. That is, if I could keep the secret long enough. (Spoiler alert: I probably couldn’t.)

$250 Amazon gift card (Your Money Geek)

Another way to meet certain household needs during a personal economic downturn.

A caveat and a disclosure

As noted, once you enter you’ll be on their mailing lists. On the bright side, you’ll learn about new contests that way. On the potential downside, you’ll get newsletters* you might not want. But that’s why the “delete” function was invented.

Most of the URLs listed above are referral links, which means that I’ll get extra entries if you use them. If that bothers you but you still want that gaming monitor or gift card, look up the sites on your own and enter to win.

Oh, and when you enter you’ll usually get a referral code of your own, i.e., a way to earn extra entries of your own. In most cases you can get additional referrals for activities like visiting the blog, sharing a post or following the blogger on social media.

Good luck! And if you win anything, please come back and brag about it.

*Thus far no one has sold my information. These are folks who are trying to build their blogs, not irritate their subscribers.

    • Some people might think I would run things JUST to get credit. I do have a history of sharing contest info (and other ways to win stuff) on Facebook and Twitter as well as this site. But not everyone knows that.

  1. Thanks for sharing these giveaways. As the economy gets more chaotic, due to coronavirus, winning a gift card for some folks might be just enough to keep their heads above water. Or at least cheer them up. (I’ll bet your book sales, and your daughter’s, will increase as people seek more ways to be frugal.) Best wishes!

  2. I’ve been entering contests for years. Like you, I have won some prizes that I could not use but I was able to sell them. My best year so far for cash and sold gifts is $650. Not a princely sum but I’m happy to get anything that adds to my income. I do contests while watching TV or videos. Thanks for the list, I did not know one of them.
