Heart-ening news.

thAfter four miscarriages, my daughter and her husband have been almost afraid to hope. Recently they found out she was pregnant again, and for the past couple of weeks they’ve been holding their breaths.

Well, she’s also been throwing up. But holding her breath in between.

Earlier today she had another ultrasound. I’ll let her tell it — go read, “Houston, we have a heartbeat!

Right now they’re still trying to take it in, since all the other pregnancies stopped developing before the seven-week mark. And as Abby notes in the above post, she’s still not out of the woods. It’ll take another five and a half weeks to finish out the riskiest trimester.

Thus I’m only cautiously optimistic. That is to say, I’m afraid to open myself up to the pain of yet another loss.

Oh, what the hell: Woooooooo hoooooooo! Babybabybabybaby!

Thanks to all who’ve sent prayers skyward or positive thoughts into the universe. And please keep ’em coming, because: not a done deal.

  1. Prayers for all of you. It would be nice to be a grandma…You will always be a parent of something whether you give birth or not, but I think it still calls to you. That is just the way we are built.

  2. Prayers and good thoughts to Abby, Tim, you, and the baby. I don’t want to jinx anything with a congratulations yet, but waves of hope are always good.

  3. EXCITEMENT!

I recently told a friend that you can never truly understand the magic of a grandchild until you’re holding yours!

Fingers and toes crossed with mad wishes for an uneventful pregnancy! Prayers going up for special protection and blessings upon each of you, but most especially ABBY!
