Shameless self-promotion: Can you help?

Last year I entered the “Tour de Personal Finance” competition, and won. This year the organizer, Jacob Irwin of My Personal Finance Journey, asked me to enter again.

Which I did — but I forgot to tell anyone. Now the deadline is approaching faster than Lance Armstrong on a rain-slicked downhill.

To continue the bike-racing metaphor, I’m in danger of being overtaken by another piece of writing that I of course want to believe is not as useful/well-written as my own.

(Where is the line between honesty and arrogance? I may be standing on it.)

Did I mention the deadline to vote is, um, July 13???

Being a total American, I am in horror of the possibility of losing any kind of contest, even one that ultimately will not make a huge difference in my day-to-day survival.

If I were to win, I’d get $75 but I’d also get to select a charity to receive a $123.05 donation. My choice would be the Guillain-Barre Syndrome Foundation, because that’s the disease that my daughter had.

So: If you have time to read both pieces, and you think my article (“The Value of Work“) is the better of the two, could I get you to vote and/or promote the competition?
