Giveaway: Starbucks and WordPress.

thRecently I attended “Press Publish,” a one-day seminar presented in Phoenix by WordPress. If you’re a writer (published or not) and one of these seminars comes to your neck of the woods, by all means go.

The day was crammed with programs from WordPress professionals (including a group of “happiness engineers” — what a cool thing to have on a business card) and pro bloggers. It didn’t cost much (they even had a coupon!) and the breakfast, lunch and snacks were great. (At least one blogger from Alaska went a little overboard on the fresh pineapple.)

In addition, writers (published or not) from a wide section of Arizona got to meet one another. I truly believe the event changed lives.

But on to this week’s giveaway. (There’s a connection. I promise.)

Giveaway: A $50 gift card from Swagbucks.

thWant a $50 head start on your summer fun? Let the Swagbucks rewards site give it to you.

The program, which is my favorite rewards site, is sponsoring a “Gateway to Summer Fun Giveaway.” The prize: a $50 card from its Rewards Store.

Normally you get up to five ways to enter my site’s giveaways. This time it’s different: Only one entry per person is allowed, and you have to do a little work to get it.

The good news? Some of this “work” will actually benefit you – that is, if you like earning free gift cards year-round.

Win a $50 Sears card from Savings.com.

thSavings.com recently gave away a batch of $50 Kohl’s gift cards. Last night the online coupon code website announced another prize opp.

This time it’s the Sears Spring Fashion Giveaway, and a grand’s worth of gift cards will be up for grabs.

You can’t win if you don’t enter. Why not give it a try?

Twenty people will be chosen at random to win $50 Sears cards. You can enter one time only between now and 11:59 p.m. EDT Saturday, April 11. Winners will be notified on April 14.

In addition, Savings.com is highlighting a one-day-only coupon code, good for 15 percent off already reduced spring fashions. The code is BUNNY, and it’s good April 8 only – in other words, you need to shop today.

I’ve already taken a peek over there and found something I could use.

Up for grabs: $10 worth of Starbucks.

thI’m not a coffee drinker, but friends of mine are. That’s why I keep an open mind about the bean, and why I give away Starbucks cards fairly regularly.

Two more reasons I give them away:

  • They’re so darned easy to mail — envelope vs. box, and no need to have a non-flat-rate box weighed and postaged.
  • They’re enthusiastically welcomed. Next to movie gift cards and those TSA-friendly toiletries kits, the Starbucks GCs are my most popular giveaway.

“Easy” is particularly important to me right now. I’m keeping busy promoting my new business, including having to work out the bugs in the ordering platform and the accompanying blog, setting up a newsletter and writing a free download (“10 Proven Ways to Generate Blog Topics”) to give to those who sign up for that newsletter.

Giveaway: The tax season survival kit.

thThe folks at H&R Block recently mailed out a couple of logo items for the 2014 tax season. Naturally I just had to turn mine into a giveaway – adding, of course, a few artistic touches of my own.

There’s a particularly high snafu potential this year due to the Affordable Care Act. Too, there was the customer service misstep by Intuit, which made major changes to the Deluxe version of its popular TurboTax software in a way some customers didn’t like. (H&R Block responded with an offer of a free replacement product; follow the link for details.)

So in advance of any issues you may or may not have, you should enter to win the 2014 Tax Season Survival Kit. It includes:

I figured that would get your attention. The crew at Savings.com, which recently offered a chance at a Sony portable sound system, is at it once more: This time, they’re handing out 20 of those gift cards.

Big news from Swagbucks.

ImageProxyRegular readers know that I’m a fan of the Swagbucks rewards program, which randomly awards points (“Swag Bucks”) for searches and also gives out rewards for watching videos, playing games, shopping and other activities.

As of March 2 the rewards redemption process will morph slightly – a change I believe is to the good.
