A spicy read.

not actually a fireman © by istolethetv

This week’s giveaway is a sweet/hot read paired with a sweet/hot treat.

The book is Alaska author Jennifer Bernard’s romance novel, “The Fireman Who Loved Me.” Let me say right up front I am not a reader of romances. The genre doesn’t do a thing for me. On the other hand, I like mysteries and some people disdain those.

Bernard’s novel is the first in a series about Station 1, whose denizens are the nation’s only all-bachelor firefighting force. One November a news producer is sent to do a Thanksgiving story. The producer likes artsy guys who enjoy wine and foreign films. Think there’s any chance she will find love with a firefighter?

(I’m not going to say, since I don’t want to ruin the ending for you.)

Here’s what Library Journal has to say: “Sexy, sassy, often hilarious and touching, Bernard’s first novel is a perfect fit for those who like their heroes hot, committed and a little larger than life.”

Since romance novels are a sweet retreat with a bit of spice, I am adding a 3.5-ounce Lindt dark chocolate and chili bar. It just seemed appropriate. I’m also throwing in a fridge-magnet calendar that features a photo of the book cover. Sizzlin’!

  2. Seems we have similar reading taste-not into romance, like mystery and I add political + action adventure. Another genre I am NOT into is Sci-Fi.

  4. I’m a mystery reader too, but Jennifer Bernard’s romance novel, “The Fireman Who Loved Me” sounds like a good read.
