Giveaway: $10 Starbucks card.

Baby, it’s hot outside. The summer has been/is still quite brutal in many parts of the Lower 48. While I can’t change the weather, I can offer a palliative.

Could anyone use a $10 Starbucks card?

Even a non-coffee-drinking weirdo like me has to admit that Starbucks has some mighty tasty and refreshing cold beverages. I can go years without setting foot in a Starbucks shop, but when I’m on the road in the summer and positively wilting from the heat, the familiar mermaid logo is rather like a siren’s call. Come on in! We have ice! And iced drinks!

The last time I was there I believe it was a berry-hibiscus drink that kept me from turning into a little puddle of baked Alaskan. It was not something I might have chosen right off the bat, but the cheerful barista described it so glowingly that I took her word for it. And I was not sorry: It was cold, it was refreshing, it was just the pick-me-up that I didn’t know I needed.

Enter to win this $10 Starbucks card in one (or all) of the following ways:

Be sure to leave a separate comment for each entry (e.g., “following you on Pinterest” plus“signed up to subscribe” or whatever).

The deadline is 6 p.m. PDT Monday, July 29. If I don’t hear back from the winners by 6 p.m. PDT Tuesday, July 30, I’ll have the random number generator pick a new name or names.

  1. I would love a Starbucks gift card. We just got over a BAD heat wave…high 90’s like 10 days in a row. This would be a welcome treat. Thank you for the kind offer! Hope all is well.

  2. Usually I make my coffee at home, but a nice cold drink at my local Starbucks would be a a welcome diversion from constant and consistent frugality. Hope I win!!!

  3. I’m with the person who said she loves the treats more than the coffees! I lose control when I go in there. Thanks for the chance to win.

    • Lemon bars. I am well-nigh helpless in the face of lemon bars. Luckily, I have learned that they’re not all that hard to make. For years I thought they required some mysterious pastry juju.

  4. I’m a preschool teacher. I’m pretty sure all teachers partially survive on caffeine. I love their ice chai tea lattes but have learned how to make it at home because it’s cheaper and I get so many more ice cold drinks out of so I tend to only go when my parents are gracious to give me a gift card to Starbucks.

    • My niece is also a teacher, and Starbucks is an occasional (and huge) treat for her as well. And she, too, prefers chai tea beverages. Maybe not being coffee drinkers is a family trait.

      • I love that you are a family of tea drinkers. I’m glad I’m not the only teacher who considers this a huge treat as well. I usually end up using the gift cards my parents give me to get a cool reusable cup to make my tea at home. There is your hip teacher frugal hack.

      • You can get the tazo chai tea in your tea and coffee isle. I know it’s usually on the top shelf in a cardboard container. They give you instructions on the box how to make it. It’s pretty much just ice, milk or soy/almond milk, and the tea.

  5. I know not everyone likes coffee, but I love Starbucks iced Pike Place.
I love to get it there and love to make it at home just as much.
    Thanks for the offer.

  6. Great giveaway. I have twin grandkids going to college soon. Yes twin brothers in college at the same time, a blessing, but they are on a strict budget. They also love a cup of joe. Thanks for the chance.

  9. I’m in! This is Florida so it’ll be too hot until Halloween but I’d still go for a cup of hot Starbucks dark roast.

  10. An Iced Matcha Tea Latte sounds pretty good right now. Was almost 100 today and I sat around waiting for a tow truck for about 4 hours. Sitting in front of a box fan now trying to convince myself I can actually sleep in this heat!
At least I saved us from having to try and start the blue truck tomorrow and find and install the lights on the flat bed trailer and hitch up and go get that dumb car and haul it in ourselves. But, I still don’t think 4 hour wait is a great return on my towing insurance investment! A nice icy drink would have been a good help during the wait. And might keep me from being too nasty when I call my insurance people and express my dissatisfaction.

  14. Hello from steaming central Florida. We have a new Starbucks in our small city right on the highway near McDonalds where DH and I go for our senior coffees. Would love to get a Starbucks card and pretend to be well off.

    Best wishes from Best Bun.

    I read all the emails.

  15. I would love a Starbucks card! Temperatures here in the Central Valley of California are predicted to be over 101 for the next week, 110 predicted for Sunday! I want to try a Unicorn Frappuccino (because swirly colors and fruity flavors!!) but I haven’t given in to temptation…yet.;)

  16. I get your emails. Please add my name to the fold! Last time I was there I was on a bus trip and bought an iced tea. Next time I hit one, depending the month, it will either be iced coffee or hot.

  17. It’s been crazy hot here in Maryland although we’re having a short reprieve today. Starbucks has some great cold coffee/espresso drinks – nitro cold brew and regular cold brew are among my favorites and I would love to win a Starbucks card. I have a Starbucks Gold Card and I try to never pay full price when I buy a gift card to reload it for my next “guilty pleasure” by purchasing my Starbucks card at BJs for a discounted price, with my Swagbucks, or using my Amazon Reward points. It would be nice to try the berry hibiscus drink too.

  18. Nothing better than ordering from the Starbucks app and picking up an ice cold cup of the unhealthy trifecta–fat, sugar and caffeine!

When will we have a real newsy article?
