Giveaway: The three-conference swag box.

thIn the past few months I’ve attended conferences in New Orleans, Austin and Kansas City, Mo. If you’ve ever attended a conference you’ll know how many items are available from the expo hall, the conference rooms and the “Welcome!” bag.

Previous conference-swag giveaways have been popular, so I decided to do it again.

Twice.

That’s right: I brought home so many oddments that they wouldn’t all fit into a single Priority Mail flat-rate box. That means two giveaways rather than one.

Don’t thank me – thank the Financial Blogger Conference, Savings.com and H&R Block for hosting the cons and for giving away items that range from the useful to the “well, that’s different.”

Among the items in this box are:

Reusable shopping bags – One is from EverBank and the other from HomeInsurance.com. (Frugal/green tip: Keep the two in the trunk of your vehicle in case you need to stop at the store on the way home. It’s frugal if they charge for shopping bags in your area and it’s green because plastic.)

Republic Wireless T-shirt – I think that free T-shirts are God’s way of saying, “Go ahead, put off doing the laundry for one more day.”

Republic Wireless cellphone cozy – At least that’s what I think it is; maybe it’s a sweater dress for a Barbie doll. Anyway, it’s got a cute Android design.

Cold drink cozy – I’m pretty sure about this one. It’s from EverBank.

Piggy bank – It’s blue, it’s plastic, it’s from Chase Bank. Nickel-and-dime your way to an emergency fund by emptying your change in it each night and depositing the take when it’s full.

Lined journal – This is from H&R Block and it comes with a pen and an attached plastic pouch. Just the thing for a small business owner who needs a place to put work-related receipts, or for a dedicated coupon hound who wants to keep lists and Qs in the same place.

Stylus pen – One end writes and one end lets you avoid fat-finger syndrome on your iWhatever. Courtesy of HomeServeUSA.com.

Jolt charger – This multi-device wireless charger is also from Chase.

USB AC adapter – In case you forget the jolt charger, I guess; it’s from OnYourOwn.org.

Earbuds – These are snuggled into the cutest little container, a zippered disk bearing the Experian logo.

Playing cards – Time for a little old-school solitaire vs. the computer version, thanks to H&R Block.

Stress reliever – You’ve heard of a stress ball? This is a stress bull, a grouchy-looking squeezy critter from MotifInvesting.com.

Post-It notes – Can’t have too many of these things! It’s from CountryFinancial.com.

Baseball – It’s a Rawlings hardball (“Official OLB1 League”), it smells like genuine leather and it’s yours courtesy of HomeServe.

Unspillable travel mug – What makes it so secure? The lid stays closed until you push a button. Thanks, Experian!

Note that these sorts of things make good stocking-stuffers, if your loved ones don’t mind the whole logo thing. And if you don’t win this week, take heart: Another box that’s just as weird as this one will be up for grabs.

To enter:

If you do any (or all!) of these things, please leave separate, additional comments to get credit for each entry.

The deadline is 7 p.m. PDT Tuesday, Nov. 18. If I don’t hear back from the winner by 7 p.m. PDT Wednesday, Nov. 19, I’ll pull another name.

Note: Due to the high cost of international shipping, a winner from outside the United States will receive an e-gift card.

  1. Donna, I agree with your thinking on the t-shirts. That is every college students way of thinking – free t-shirts – less money spent this week on laundry!
