Holiday 2021 giveaway: Alaska chocolate.

Here we are, a bit closer to Christmas and Kwanzaa, Hannukah in the rear-view mirror, and still supporting the local economy. This week’s holiday 2021 giveaway is pretty sweet. But not too sweet, even though it’s made up mostly of chocolate.

That’s because the Chugach Chocolate company specializes in dark chocolate. Headquartered in Anchorage, it’s been the subject of a couple of previous giveaways and it’s always been a big hit.

If you win, you could give free chocolate to someone you love this holiday season?

And yes, that someone could be…yourself. Charity begins at home. Sometimes chocolate does, too.

In addition to the four chocolate bars in the giveaway, the winner will also receive a fun (yet useful!) piece of Alaska kitsch: a face mask featuring the Alaska Tastee-Freez logo.

More on that in a minute. Right now, let’s talk about the chocolate.

Chugach Chocolate makes small-batch, dark chocolate (55% cacao) with –  and some of the flavors are very, very unique. This time around, the winner gets four 1.75-ounce bars in the following flavors:

Chocolate with Prince William Sound Sea Salt
Chocolate with Mat-Su Valley Potato Chips
Chocolate with Espresso Beans
Chocolate with Alaskan Kelp and Cayenne (not making that up)

(No birch syrup toffee this time around. Sorry about that.)

Note: Anything from Chugach Chocolates makes a very unique holiday gift. You can get free shipping for orders of $35 or more, and free shipping for any order within the state of Alaska if any of the folks on your list happen to live there. Pretty sure that no one else is going to give your great-aunt some dark chocolate bars made with kelp and cayenne, or with Alaska sourdough and bee pollen.

And again: They mail it for you. No standing in line at the post office.

About that face mask

The local Tastee-Freez restaurant is a very community-minded company, known for good works such as donating items to school auctions, hosting COVID-19 vaccination clinics (and giving free ice cream to the immunized), collecting and storing turkeys for the food bank, and the like. (And they make pretty good curly fries, too.)

When the Tastee-Freez mask debuted during the pandemic, I bought a few and saved out one for an eventual giveaway. After all, one side of the mask has chocolate on it:

And the other side of the mask has Alaska on it:

So: Alaska-made chocolate, and something with Alaska with chocolate on it. Works for me.

Win some chocolate
