Sick.

thJust a heads-up that my head is stopped up and thus my writing may stop dead, at last for a while. I have the crud that’s going around: a serious, wracking cough, some sinus involvement (but no fever) and extreme weariness.

The cough hits me like a fungo bat between the eyes (yay sinus involvement), and it’s strained my torso muscles so much that it hurts to get out of bed.

I’m acutely aware that my Aunt Elna used to fracture her ribs by coughing too hard. Really, really don’t want to do that.

DF has been dancing attendance, bringing tissues and meds and drinks and kind words. I’ve caught him wringing his hands because he can’t do more, bless his heart. But this is one of those things that’s hard to fix.

Until I’m feeling a bit more chipper I won’t be posting. It’s important for me to rest up because I have to get on a plane to Phoenix a week from tonight.

Looking forward to seeing anyone who can make it to the Phoenix meet-up, co-hosted by I Pick Up Pennies and possibly featuring some other writers; have gotten definite maybes from Funny About Money, Honey Smith of Get Rich Slowly and Luke from Consumerism Commentary.

Promise not to cough on you. (I hope.)

  1. Oh, ick! That sounds like no fun at all. We all had it back in Nov/Dec, and my husband and younger son just went through a second round. Rest, heal, and recover quickly!

  4. Please get a lot of rest, don’t type anymore. I find vitamin C, tomato, and zinc all help shorten the illness. Especially zinc. Take very good care of yourself, and get well soon.

  5. Sorry you’re not well…Two words “netti pot”…Warm water along with some salt into the netti pot and into each nostril. THIS really works well on sinus infections…swear by it. Get well soon!

  6. get a discounted gift card and a 25% off coupon and race to CVS and get some store brand Emergen-C (vitamin C powder drink thing). Take some before you get on a plane. Every time I travel, I drink some the day before and the day of my flight. Bring some with you and repeat for the trip home. This is my secret weapon.
I never get sick after traveling. your immune system is already down from this creeping crud…don’t want to relapse when you get on the bucket of bacteria that is a plane!

  7. If you’re still congested when it’s time to fly to AZ, be sure to take an OTC decongestant before boarding. Otherwise the pressure change in the cabin will give the mother of all ear aches. Ask me how I know this…

    • I think honey is supposed to have antiviral properties. Even if it doesn’t, I really enjoy hot tea with lemon and honey when I’m sick.
