Giveaway: $10 Amazon gift card.

thWhy am I giving away $10 in Amazon scrip? Because it’s easy, that’s why.

I’ve got too many irons in the fire right now to focus on coming up with a clever giveaway and an even more clever explanation of said giveaway.

Summer + deadlines = not quite enough time to do everything I need/want to do. Thus I’m cutting corners wherever I can.

Heck, last week I skipped the giveaway altogether. Sorry about that.

Up for grabs: $20 Visa gift cards.

Grocery GiveawaySavings.com recently gave away $1,000 worth of Amazon gift cards. Now they’re at it again, and upping the stakes.

The online coupon site will give away $2,000 worth of Visa gift cards, $20 at a time. They’re calling it a “Grocery Giveaway,” but obviously you can use the scrip any way you like.

Beat the heat with cold drinks or a double feature in a blessedly air-conditioned theater. Take advantage of summer clearance sales.

Buy that paperback thriller you’ve been eyeing. Put the money toward a facial or a pedicure. Purchase $20 worth of Snickers bars and freeze ’em all.

Your prize, your choice.

Win a $50 Amazon card from Savings.com.

PrimeS_300X250 To increase the already considerable buzz around Amazon Prime Day, the Savings.com deal site is giving away $1,000 worth of Amazon scrip.

The bad news: Prime Day is Wednesday, July 15, and gift-card winners won’t be drawn until Tuesday, July 21.

The good news: Amazon promises it will offer more deals this Wednesday than it will on Black Friday. (More on that below.)

Starting at 12:01 a.m. EDT Tuesday, July 14 you have the chance to win a $50 gift card. Twenty will be given away and I’d love it if one (or more!) of my readers were in the winners’ circle.

Here’s how to enter:

A simple way to beat the summer heat.

thHot enough for ya? That’s what I figured. Although recent temperatures aren’t unduly onerous except in places like Phoenix, even an 80-something day can take the starch right out of you.

That’s why this week’s giveaway is a two-pronged approach to beating the heat: a literary getaway and a cold to drink, consumed in an air-conditioned place, to go with it.

“The Happiness of Pursuit” giveaway.

happiness of pursuitSix months ago I gave away a copy of Chris Guillebeau’s “The Happiness of Pursuit: Finding the Quest That Will Bring Purpose to Your Life.” Just over 70 entries were tallied for that one.

Clearly the interest is there, so I’m giving away another copy.

The book is based on Guillebeau’s own grand challenge (visiting every country in the world before he hit age 35) as well as other people’s personal tests.

Or, as Guillebeau calls them, “ordinary people working toward extraordinary goals.”

Giveaway: Starbucks and WordPress.

thRecently I attended “Press Publish,” a one-day seminar presented in Phoenix by WordPress. If you’re a writer (published or not) and one of these seminars comes to your neck of the woods, by all means go.

The day was crammed with programs from WordPress professionals (including a group of “happiness engineers” — what a cool thing to have on a business card) and pro bloggers. It didn’t cost much (they even had a coupon!) and the breakfast, lunch and snacks were great. (At least one blogger from Alaska went a little overboard on the fresh pineapple.)

In addition, writers (published or not) from a wide section of Arizona got to meet one another. I truly believe the event changed lives.

But on to this week’s giveaway. (There’s a connection. I promise.)

Another shot at the “Tundra” calendar.

IMG_20150503_130130A couple of weeks back I gave away a 2016 calendar created by “Tundra” artist Chad Carpenter. Or would have, if the winner hadn’t been from Canada.

Not that I have anything against our brethren to the north (or, in my case, to the east). It’s just that mailing the calendar would have been ridiculously expensive.

That’s why I note that winners from outside the United States will receive a gift card instead of mailable items. In this case, I sent the reader a $15 Amazon.ca card.

Which means, of course, that the calendar is still up for grabs. So is a $50 gift card of your choice from the Swagbucks shop. But first things first.

Giveaway: A $50 gift card from Swagbucks.

thWant a $50 head start on your summer fun? Let the Swagbucks rewards site give it to you.

The program, which is my favorite rewards site, is sponsoring a “Gateway to Summer Fun Giveaway.” The prize: a $50 card from its Rewards Store.

Normally you get up to five ways to enter my site’s giveaways. This time it’s different: Only one entry per person is allowed, and you have to do a little work to get it.

The good news? Some of this “work” will actually benefit you – that is, if you like earning free gift cards year-round.

Giveaway: “Tundra” calendar.

IMG_20150503_130130I saw “Moose: The Movie” again on Saturday, on the drive back from Fairbanks. The first time was at the world premiere of this goofy horror-film spoof, the brainchild of cartoonist Chad Carpenter, creator of the “Tundra” comic strip.

In the past I’ve given away “Tundra” books, playing cards and a calendar. Reader interest has always been high because Carpenter’s work is syndicated in some 600 newspapers worldwide. Not bad for a homegrown cartoonist.

Carpenter was on hand at the Saturday screening and was giving away “Tundra” 2016 calendars. In addition to signing the calendars he added a little moose drawing. Look to the left and you’ll see the result.

Enter to win and you may wind up owning the result.
