“The Happiness of Pursuit” giveaway.

happiness of pursuitSix months ago I gave away a copy of Chris Guillebeau’s “The Happiness of Pursuit: Finding the Quest That Will Bring Purpose to Your Life.” Just over 70 entries were tallied for that one.

Clearly the interest is there, so I’m giving away another copy.

The book is based on Guillebeau’s own grand challenge (visiting every country in the world before he hit age 35) as well as other people’s personal tests.

Or, as Guillebeau calls them, “ordinary people working toward extraordinary goals.”

There’s the former atheist, now a Catholic convert, who’s determined to visit every basilica in the United States. Or the woman who lived at the top of a 100-foot-tall eucalyptus tree to bring public attention to old-growth logging.

One guy vowed to stop using cars, as a driver or a rider. Another guy spent almost two decades working to produce the world’s largest symphony. These are just a few examples, but the variety shows you that this is no ordinary how-to book.

The effect of other people’s dreams and determination is twofold:

  • It might help you give yourself permission to make up a goal of your own, and
  • It will likely jump-start your reach for that dream.

Guillebeau has written two other books, “The Art of Non-Conformity: Set Your Own Rules, Live the Life You Want, and Change the World” and “The $100 Startup: Reinvent the Way You Make a Living, Do What You Love, and Create a New Future For Yourself,” and created the “Unconventional Guides” series as well.

In his spare time, he blogs at The Art of Non-Conformity.

Now you can enter up to six ways:

If you do any (or all!) of these things, please leave separate, additional comments to get credit for each entry.

The deadline is 7 p.m. PDT Tuesday, June 30. If I don’t hear back from the winner by 7 p.m. PDT Wednesday, July 1, I’ll pull another name.

  2. Sounds like an interesting read. Can you be a non-conformist in small ways while happily conforming in big ticket items like your job?

  4. I subscribe to your WABPWR newsletter. Thanks for so generously sharing your talent!

When I hit a really rough patch financially, I stopped spending $ on entertainment. While I still did plenty of free outdoor things, I also spent more time on the internet…and that’s when I discovered your online writing, which is head and shoulders above the quality of most non-subscription writing I find online. I still refer tor your “Surviving (and thriving” on $12,000 a year” when I need inspiration.
